“I work in VFX for movies and TV shows. I like the idea of being able to create and help tell stories through visual development. My favourite part of my job is being able to achieve the end result in my own unique way. There are many ways of creating what I do, but for the company that I work with, they allow me to express myself a lot more, which is quite unique to any job I think.

“VFX is very demanding in terms of quality. You watch movies in the theatre and a lot of it is very close to you, so you’re able to see a lot of mistakes. As an artist, you sit at a monitor, which is a lot smaller than an actual theatre screen. When you watch it in theatres, the details are thirty-times larger, so the quality has to be that much better. It’s very demanding because you spend a lot of time on your work. A second of a movie could take almost six months to make.

“I made a mistake when I was just starting off in graphic design. I was given the task to create an AD. I misspelled a couple of words and used the wrong colours for the company. They ended up printing millions of copies, and then they realized that the colours weren’t correct, so our company had to pay for it. It was definitely a learning curve for me. My boss understood and it was okay in the end.”
